Abstract

|
Congenital glioblastomas have been rarely reported in the literatures and known to have a higher propensity to cause intratumoral hemorrhage compared to pediatric brain tumors. We report a case of definite congenital glioblastoma, which
was not detected by endovaginal fetal sonography until 35+1 weeks gestation and presented with intratumoral hemorrhage
after birth. Brain CT and MRI scan showed a intracranial mass with internal hemorrhage and small portion of contrast
enhancement. If the rapid growing intracranial lesion with internal hemorrhage is detected by fetal sonography or MRI late
in gestation, a congenital malignant tumor as well as vascular malformations should be considered.
